Visually, these are primarily images of people in landscapes. While some portraiture and landscape photographs have truly moved me in the past, often that initial feeling is fleeting, and passes as I view the images again and again. Recently I have become interested in blending these two realms together. It is my suspicion that there exists some magic visual combination of a person in a landscape that can rise above an individual personality, or a specific location. A story can be created so that the final image depicts not only that certain person in an amazing scene, but brings to life some larger narrative as well. I am drawn to the undeniable synchronicity which can occur while I explore with a camera the relationships between model, environment, and gesture. Sometimes I nearly feel the air itself grow still as the balance is found, the photograph made. Playing with these dynamics of blending portraiture and landscape photography to create an allegorical image is a large part of the photographs here.
